Favors Your Fairy Garden Friends Will Love

Acorn Baby“How did you fall in love with miniature gardening?” is one of the most common questions I am asked as a fairy garden enthusiast. I love this question because it all comes back to an enjoyable day and a thoughtful gift from a family friend of mine. Since I live in the crafting world, I had obviously heard about miniature gardening but did not leap into the medium until I received a small gift bag containing my very first miniature accessory. It should not surprise anyone that the bag held a small golden retriever with a smile on his face and a red Frisbee in his mouth. At first, I was taken aback since I did not understand what I was expected to do with my newest golden retriever. Once I did a little bit of research on the Internet, I came across a whole world of miniature gardening, miniature plants, miniature trees, and fairy houses, and I fell in love. It was the perfect compromise between my love of gardening and my love of fairy tales.

Around this time, I was also planning my wedding, so all of my ‘days of celebration’ were in the near future. I had an engagement party; a wedding shower; a bachelorette party; my wedding; and nearly five years later, my baby shower. These were all days full of love and joy, complete with my favorite people in the entire world. When you have these people surrounding you that you share your life with, it is the perfect chance also to share a unique hobby.

At the most recent celebration for the newest (human) addition to my family, my sisters had the clever idea to share some miniature fairy accessories with guests at my baby shower. We dug through the options online and selected some tiny fairies that match the theme of a baby girl shower. My favorite items picked were the Baby Sweet Pea Fairy, who is an adorable little fairy in a tiny bonnet and pink dress, as well as Baby in a Pea Pod, where there is a newborn infant fairy snuggled into a green pea pod that blends nicely in the miniature plants within a fairy garden. In addition, I loved the Fairy Baby in a Tulip where a tiny baby is in the soft petals of a tulip, as though she is wrapped up in a sleeping bag. After a Saturday brunch full of food, mocktails, decorating baby onesies, and drawing on diapers, all my guests left with a little party favor wrapped in tissue paper and tied with a pink curly ribbon. Each package held one of three miniature fairy babies. It was a fun way to share my passion with all of my best friends, and introduce them to a crafty world they had not otherwise considered. My friends who already planted miniature gardens were excited to have a new fairy accessory to add to their collection. For everyone else, the fairies were a special token to remember a big day for my friends, family, and me.
