The delicate fronds and airy appearance of this little fern makes it perfect as a 'rain-forest' plant in a miniature and fairy garden. Unlike most hardy maidenhair ferns, Himalayan maidenhair fern is also evergreen. But the most enchanting thing about this elegant fern is the way that its small fronds unfurl in late winter with a soft, bronze color. It later mature to a fresh spring green, contributing a wonderland effect to the woodland garden outside in the yard as well as in the fairy gardens. Himalayan maidenhair fern spreads very slowly, so it can be used to line paths or as a groundcover in shady gardens. It is an excellent companion plant for other woodland and shade garden plants.
