Description:

Is there a cuter plant name than Cerastium alpinum lanatum, Alpine Mouse Ear? We certainly think the name suits it, for this alpine plant grows as a short carpet of silver-grey leaves that are fuzzy and soft to the touch. In dry climates, you can consider this for a lawn replacement, but it should otherwise be kept to rock gardens, crevices, and walls. It is drought-tolerant and can be affected by rotting when exposed to excess moisture and cold. In the late spring, you can expect to spot shoots of white flowers, brightening up the carpet of fuzzy, tiny “mouse ears!”
