If you are looking for an easy-to-care-for house plant, Ceropegia woodii is an excellent choice. Similar to String of Hearts, its cousin, String of Spades has a fast-growing, trailing habit. It adds beauty to hanging baskets, pots, and other indoor containers. Its green, spade-shaped succulent leaves are decorated with delicate, cream-colored veins. Lantern-shaped flowers bloom in the late summer and fall.
String of Spades will flourish with indirect sunlight and regular watering. Plan to water once a week, but do allow the soil to dry out between waterings. This will help prevent root rot. Bonus: This houseplant is easy to propagate! Just trim off a piece of the stem and allow it to root in a cup of water.
