This ice plant originates from the mountains of South Africa's Eastern Cape Province, but has adapted well to drier parts of the US. The 2 inch tall x 18 inch wide mats of fleshy green foliage are blanketed from April through August (except in excessive heat) with coral red, star shaped flowers. As with most Ice Plants a well-drained soil type is essential to its survival. Very easy to take care of. Needs occasional trimming if planted in the miniature garden.
