Description:

Also known as Edelweiss, Leontopodium alpinum, Blossom of Snow, is an alpine perennial that blooms in the summer and again in the fall. This plant is known for its large, star-shaped flowers that are fuzzy-white with a yellow center. Its silvery foliage is perfect for rock gardens, mixed planting, perennial borders, or containers. According to plant lore, Edelweiss was almost extinct at one time. However, the Sound of Music brought it back into popularity, and it is now a protected species in its native southern Europe. It remains a symbol of the alpine regions.

Plant in well-drained, sandy soil with access to full sun. Surprisingly suitable as a cut flower due to its long flower stems.
