Pleioslilos nelii Royal Flush
Purple Split Rock
Deep pink with a white center
Thick, egg-shaped leaves
January - January
This unique succulent is also known as a “split rock.” Why? It looks like a rock that has been split open, revealing a center leaf. In fact, as this plant grows, new leaf pairs will emerge in the center. Their “rocky” personality is furthered by the fact that their speckles camouflage them against blocks of granite in their native South African habitats.
These plants do not tolerate low-light or overwatering, and they need plenty of ventilation. In order to maintain the pink to purple pigment, you will want to keep Pleioslilos nelii 'Royal Flush' in bright sunlight, ideally in a deep pot with a drainage hole. Water every 7 – 10 days in spring and fall. In the summer and winter, they can be left completely dry.
In the mid-afternoon, the daisy-like flower will emerge from the center. The flowers spread to about 3-inches in diameter. They close just after sunset. Keep it in bright sunlight and water only every 7-10 days in spring and fall - in summer and winter it can be left completely dry.
